Uzbekistan Airways’ new terminal starts operation in Tashkent

The third new terminal is being introduced in the Tashkent International Airport, Uzbekistan, as its carrying capacity is 400 passengers per hour.

As of September 26, 2011, all flights from Tashkent will be operated from the new terminal, Tashkent-3, as regards all domestic airlines.

The Uzbekistan Airways’ Press Service reported on September 23, 2011, the new two-floor airport building has carrying capacity of 400 passengers per hour, as it is in compliance with international standards.

The terminal that costs US $62 million is located in the area of the Sayfy Alimov Streetand Tashkent encircling highway in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The project was financed due to funds from the state budget, Uzbekistan Airways, and Tashkent City Administration.

Tashkent International Airport’s buses permanently run between Tashkent-2 and Tashkent-3 terminals.

Uzbekistan Airways is a state airline, the monopolistic air carrier in Uzbekistan. All airports in the country are its structural departments.

The Airline operates flights to 21 cities in Europe, North America, the Near East, Asia, and 22 cities in CIS, as well as 11 air routes represent domestic airlines.

In January-June 2011, the Airline has increased passenger transportations by 9.2% or up to 1.062 million people and cargo transportations have been increased by 6.7% up to 24,100 tons, as compared with the analogous period of 2010.
